About

I grew up being read to and reading books myself, but have never been such a voracious reader until living in New York City. On average my total commute time every day is about three to three and a half hours. That time is spent devouring all kinds of books from Harry Potter to Sex With the Queen. To be honest, my commute is my favorite part of the day.

I am also a huge believer in small farms and local agriculture, and am a vegan. I enjoy creating simple dishes with lovely produce like tatsoi grown out on Long Island or donut peaches grown in Upstate New York. I do not always use local ingredients, but feel honored and blessed when I am able to incorporate them into a meal.

Novel Eats is an attempt to combine my love of books and food. Each dish you see here represents either a specific dish referenced in a book I am reading, or will be at least inspired by it.
