I grew up being read to and reading books myself, but have never been such a voracious reader until living in New York City. On average my total commute time every day is about three to three and a half hours. That time is spent devouring all kinds of books from Harry Potter [1] to Sex With the Queen [2]. To be honest, my commute is my favorite part of the day.

I am also a huge believer in small farms and local agriculture, and am a vegan. I enjoy creating simple dishes with lovely produce like tatsoi grown out on Long Island or donut peaches grown in Upstate New York. I do not always use local ingredients, but feel honored and blessed when I am able to incorporate them into a meal.

Novel Eats is an attempt to combine my love of books and food. Each dish you see here represents either a specific dish referenced in a book I am reading, or will be at least inspired by it.
